Internship at ICCN


ICCN welcomes and offers its facilities for interns from different countries. In each individual case the terms of internship is negotiated, yet as a rule ICCN is not able to cover the basic costs of internship, such as travel and accommodation.

Internship 2002 / 2003

In fall of 2002 ICCN through the financial support of DRC (Danish Refugee Council) opens an internship for the representatives of active Caucasus NGOs working in the field of conflict resolution, political science, public policy, international relations, international human rights or other related fields. The Internship Programme aims to promote and activate the cooperation practice among Caucasus NGOs, develop peacebuilding process, principles and policies of regional NGOs in close cooperation with civil society organizations.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

The intern will be responsible for:
" conducting background research in the field of conflict studies and peace research, human rights, IDP/refugee or related issues;
" establishing and maintaining contacts with local authorities, research institutions and NGOs;
" developing initiatives to support the process of effective cooperation among Caucasus NGOs;
" preparation of reports on political and related issues;
" application of the experience and skills obtained at ICCN in his/her own environment

The General Requirements:

" University degree in political science, international relations or related fields;
" relevant professional experience within the Caucasus NGO;
" demonstrable organizational, analytical, communication and interpersonal skills;
" knowledge of regional political developments;
" ability and wish to establish and maintain effective working relationship with people of different national and cultural background while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
" cultural sensitivity and judgement

Some familiarity with policy-making institutions, corporate social responsibility and conflict resolution frameworks are also required.
